Metro – A countrywide opportunity

Transport For Wales are currently working on three Metro schemes in Wales and the Borders; South Wales, North Wales and Swansea Bay Metro. All these projects are different stages of development and representing substantial opportunities to the supply chain.

Decarbonisation – TfW’s ambitious sustainability targets

Transport For Wales have committed to deliver on the Welsh Government’s policy by decarbonising their transport network, with significant investment in the first hybrid trains in the UK. From 2022 the Core Valley Lines will run bi-mode and tri-mode trains operated entirely from overhead power supplemented by batteries, resulting in entirely emission free and powered by 100% renewable energy.

The session will explore Welsh Government led plans for a bespoke, world class, railway infrastructure and rolling stock testing facility that will act as an accelerator for rail industry innovation, investment and growth in Wales, the wider United Kingdom and internationally.
