Martin Bignell

Martin is the Scottish and North of England Representative for the Rail Freight Group. RFG is the representative body for rail freight in the UK, and we campaign for a greater use of rail freight, to deliver environmental and economic benefits for the UK. RFG have around 120 member companies including train operators, end customers, ports and terminal operators, suppliers including locomotive and wagon companies and support services.

Martin joined RFG in January 2022 with a broad and multi-disciplinary background, including experience of UK passenger rail and rail freight, road logistics, maritime services and active travel. Martin has held roles in the public and private sectors, including public policy development, multi-modal warehousing and distribution and working with commercial clients on proposition development to bid, win and mobilise several iconic transport services.
