Jo Binstead
Jo is Head of Innovation at Siemens UK’s Rolling Stock business, with over 20 years’ experience in the fields of Product Management, Innovation, Digitalisation and Business Development.
Jo has led the Innovation Team within the Rolling Stock business since September 2015. She is responsible for identifying ways to accelerate the uptake of new technologies and incorporating into existing and future fleets.
With a strong focus on new product development, Jo is committed to the digitalisation of the rail industry, creating a future-ready, digital railway which can unlock capacity on the UK’s rail network.
Jo is also Chair of the UK Rail Research and Innovation Network (UKRRIN) Steering Group. As part of UKRRIN – a partnership between Siemens, eight universities and 15 other rail companies – Jo is ensuring the continued support and building of UK rail sector capacity and capability to develop, deliver and deploy new technologies.
Jo is dedicated to improving engagement and cross-collaboration between universities and rail businesses to accelerate innovation and support the delivery of major transport investments in the UK.
Jo joined Siemens in 2011, having previously worked across a number of markets such as China, India and the US, and for companies including TE Connectivity, Raychem, and Ford Motor Company.
Jo has two sons, aged 19 and 20, and lives with her husband in Bournemouth.
