Jim Bell
Jim leads Arup’s business across Yorkshire and the NW of England supporting a team of 1,250 across six offices to deliver sustainable solutions for clients across the region. He is a champion of inclusivity, sustainability and diversity.
Jim’s work spans from business strategy to operations and delivery, and includes major project leadership with key clients. His portfolio covers the full breadth of the region across Healthcare, Universities, Venues and large scale masterplans, giving Jim connections across the major cities and including the following key projects: –
- University of Sheffield Engineering Faculty: £200m redevelopment from 2010-2021.
- Sheffield Hallam Alliance: £300m campus masterplan and delivery from 2019-2030.
- Structural remediation of £700m Royal Liverpool Hospital 2019-2022.
- Leeds Arena, voted World’s best new venue 2014
- Manchester City Football Academy, completed 2014
- Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, £300m masterplan and delivery from 2012-2030.
A chartered civil & structural engineer, Jim has further qualifications in Business Economics and City Resilience, which have informed his focus on sustainability, social value and design excellence across the region. Jim enjoys working closely with clients and collaborators through teamwork excellence.
As a coach in Arup he also owns the EDI programme for the NW & Yorkshire and is passionate about inclusive teams and Arup’s role in the communities where we work.
Beyond work, Jim takes a keen interest in current affairs and particularly likes to be outdoors running or cycling, learning languages. He is also active in his local community as a school governor.
