Anna Humphries

Anna is responsible for leading the sustainability and social value strategy and agenda for Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) programme. TRU will provide real benefits to our customers and communities along the route and deliver a cleaner, greener, electrified reliable railway.

Before TRU, Anna was Principal Sustainability Manager for Capital Delivery in Network Rail, where she was responsible for leading the sustainability management and performance of all major enhancement and renewals projects and leading the supply chain to deliver against Network Rail’s sustainability objectives and targets. Anna has led on strategic projects such as East West Rail, NR’s HS2 enabling work and Midland Mainline Electrification. Prior to working at Network Rail Anna led the environment management at a number of principal contractor organisations bringing vast knowledge in delivery. Anna spent her early career as a technical specialist as an ecologist after graduating from the University of Liverpool with an Applied Zoology degree and a post graduate degree in Environmental Monitoring, Modelling and Reconstruction from the University of Manchester.
