Syeda Ghufran

Syeda Ghufran is an accomplished professional in the rail industry, currently serving as the Director of Asset Management and Assurance for Customer Services at Siemens Mobility.

Prior to joining Siemens, Syeda held the position of Fleet Engineering Director at Hitachi Rail, where she made significant contributions to the company’s success. In 2018, she achieved a major milestone in her career by becoming the youngest and first female Engineering Director at Scotrail.

In addition to her technical expertise, Syeda is highly skilled in maintenance optimisation and digitalisation, making her well-equipped to enhance maintenance processes and drive efficiency in asset management.

Syeda is passionate about promoting gender equality in the transport industry and has worked with organisations such as Women in Rail and the Institution of Railway Operators to foster positive change within the sector.
