David Lawrance

David is responsible for leading Engineering on the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) programme between Manchester, Leeds and York. David’s early career started in Nuclear Power Generation after gaining a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nottingham. After switching into rail, David undertook various engineering management roles on the West Coast Route Modernisation programme. A seminal role was that on the Stafford Programme, overseeing the engineering development and ultimately as the Engineering Manager of the Stafford Alliance. David was then Head of Engineering for the Northern Programmes organisation, with achievements including the landmark Ordsall Chord and the very challenging North West Electrification.
