Michael Shanks

Michael is a senior environment and sustainability professional with significant experience in the consultancy, public sector and corporate environments, working across a range of sectors, but particularly in infrastructure including rail and utilities. His experience includes substantial periods in large complex FTSE 100 organisations and experience of working internationally across Europe, Canada, North America, South America, India, China and Africa.

Michael is currently Head of Environment and Sustainability for Balfour Beatty’s Rail and Utilities Strategic Business Units. Previously he has been Head of Environmental Services for East West Railway Company, Head of Environment at HS2 and prior those he has held senior environment and sustainability roles in the energy sector with Centrica and RWE.
