Alexander Nicoll

Alexander Nicoll has worked in the UK charity and corporate sectors and also accumulated nearly two decades of service in local government. He was a member of Westminster City Council from 1994 – 2010 and, in May 2017, returned to elected office as a member of Suffolk County Council. He is currently Deputy Cabinet Member for Transport.

In early 2018 Alexander became the first Chair of the newly formed Eastern Section Group of the East West Rail Consortium. The Group consists of members of authorities from across the Eastern region supported by officers from each authority. The Greater Anglia LEP also participate and other stakeholders regularly involved include Greater Anglia and the Port of Felixstowe.

On a national level Alexander is currently Chair of the LGA Public Transport Consortium (PTC). The PTC draws members from authorities across England and Wales and DfT and Network Rail regularly attend the meetings. Alexander served as Lord Mayor of Westminster for the municipal year 2006/2007.
